Introduction of Metamorphosis:


The Metamorphosis ( German: Die verwandlung ) is a short story written by Franz Kafka which we first published in 1915. One of kafka's  best- know works, The Metamorphosis tells the story of salesman Gregor Samsa who wakes one morning to find himself inexplicably transformed into a huge insect and subsequently struggling to adjust to this new condition . The Short story has been widely discussed among literary critics with differing interpretation being offered.

Definition of Metamorphosis:

“Metamorphosis a series of stories describing mythical characters who are punished for sexual misbehavior by being turned into plants and animals.”

“Metamorphosis refers to the way that certain organisms develop, grow ,and change form”

Metamorphosis actually means “change”

1.Gergor's status and profession:

Gregor's is the main character of the story. He work as a travelling salesman in order to provide Money for his sister and parents. He wakes up one morning finding himself transformed into an insect. Before Gregor’s status goods in family and society because he is the only working family member. When he changes in the shape of insect ,then his statt not goods in family.

2.Transformation:

Though the use of the transformation of characters in the Short story, The Metamorphosis, Franz Kafka portrays the idea that people changed under pressure. Kafka opens the story with “when Gregor Samsa awoke in his bed bone morning From unquiet dreams ,he found himself transformed into an enormous insect . The character Gregor Samsa in the book “Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka symbolizes change in which he gest transformed into a large insect.

3.Imprisonment:

“The Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka is a story with a theme about imprisonment. It symbolically shows many imagery and objects that represent imprisonment and implies that physical, financial and obligation imprisonment all exists in life. He stays almost entirely in his family. Gregor’s room locked and gloomy gray atmosphere help symbolizes and make notice that he is physically imprisoned. 

4. Relationship:

The relationship in the samsa household are defined by tension and resentment. Before his metamorphosis  Gregor is the only working family member. Gregor's sister seems to be the family member for whom Gregor holds the most affection. The first Gergor is good to have a lot of care, but later, nobody does not talk with Gergor, Even his dear sister leaves her to take care.

5. Behavior and Dehumanization:

The Dehumanization of Gregor in Kafka’s Metamorphosis .in the Short story the Metamorphosis the main character Gregor undergoes a physical transformation from human to bug. Despite this change in appearance , he maintains his human brain as insect tendencies slowly Take over his day to day behavior. He maintains his thoughtless state of mind, memories, and inner dialogue during his exterior transformation . Although he maintains his mental capacities, it is his change in appearance that cause his family to turn against him and eventually want to kill him.

6.Food:

The use of food to signify the starving for attention in the metamorphosis. Throughout the story “Metamorphosis” the food is used as a symbol to represent several concepts. However some of the most apparent and vital use are food's symbol of transformation and of love in the story.

For example after the transformation of Gregor, his preference of food change.

7.Death:

Gregor’s death can absolutely be read as a sacrificial act by Gregor himself. He has been slowly declining over several weeks but when he hears his own beloved sister say that Gergor should just die and that he was a burden to the family , he lets himself die so as to relieve the family of the burden of caring for him and dealing with all the hardship the thinks he brought to them ,the fact that the maid and not a family member disposes of the dead body plays into his attitude they all have toward Gregor by the end of the story .His death is clearly the final sacrifice he can make for his family and his death was imminent anyway.
